Long Winter Night Annual Members Exhibition

​​Volunteer Opportunity! ​

The Avon River Arts Society is ​looking to fill the position of Exhibition Coordinator for our annual members only art show​case​, Long Winter Nights, held ​annually throughout November​ and December​ at the Bread Gallery in Brooklyn​, Nova Scotia. 

This is a rewarding position, facilitating and being the liaison between artists and community, partnering with The Bread Gallery, while organizing an exhibition to delight viewers.​ This exhibition has been organized in the past by Tacha Reed, and recently by Cara Sawka​ for the past three years​, who will both do their best to provide support to aid the transition.

​Exhibition Coordinator, Long Winter Nights

​General Duties
​ - Maintain correspondence with members and ​potential members​ leading up to and during​ the exhibition​
​ - Promote artist participation ​throughout the summer season; via email, postering and social media 
​ - Create a call for winter/seasonal themed artwork ​to be used for promotion of the exhibition
​ - Arrange to receive and return artwork before and after the exhibition
 - Hang the artwork with the aid of fellow society members, create and place tags, create biography/artist's statement booklet for display in the gallery
 - Organize and host the reception with the aid of fellow society members (catering, music, flowers)
 - Manage social media campaign leading up to the opening and daily throughout the duration of the exhibition, scheduling posts that featuring a different artist's biography/statement daily, followed by individual artworks on a rotation
 - Organize gallery sittings with participating artists (Saturdays 10am-12pm throughout November and December); promote in advance via social media, coordinating with Bread Gallery management for cross promotion

Members of our team are available to aid with graphic design, signage and print advertising.
