Working in partnership with The Bread Gallery in Brooklyn and the Avon River Heritage Society, we arrange for many opportunities for members to show their art during the year.
Long Winter Nights - Annual members showcase held at the Bread Gallery in Brooklyn, Hants County Every November and December.
The Great Little Art Show - Organized by Avon River Arts, the Great Little Art Show is a major attraction in the community and is a significant fundraiser for the Avon River Heritage Museum and Avon Spirit Shipyard. This year the exhibit will once again extend throughout the month of May, with the museum being open to the public each weekend.
The opening Always takes place the First Friday in May from 7 pm to 9 pm with a festive reception.
Viewing times throughout the rest of month are from 10 am to 5 pm, every Saturday & Sunday.
In 2018 we're celebrating the 20th Annual Great Little Art Show - Friday, May 4th - Sunday May 27th.
Artisans in Action - Our annual summer series of demonstrations and pop-up shows takes place the first Sunday of the Month, June trough October, noon until 4pm.
Each month throughout the summer the Avon River Heritage Museum and Avon Spirit Shipyard in Avondale plays host to Artisans in Action, a series of events which sees the historic waterfront in Newport Landing transformed into a pop-up market for an afternoon, featuring live demonstrations by Nova Scotian artisan and makers.
These live demonstrations provide a great opportunity for local artisans who work in historical trades, crafts, and art forms (done in both traditional and contemporary manners), to introduce themselves and their craft to a wider audience.
